Broadband and video

Broadband has changed the Internet. Last March Nielsen/NetRatings reported that 68% of all households that have Internet access connect via broadband. This change eliminates all the old rules for Internet development.

No longer do web developers need to keep their page content small enough to load on a dial-up. Without these restrictions, developers are now using larger and larger files... including video. Over the last year, it seems like every site we design can use video to better communicate the company's message to the public. Older sites too have benefited from the addition of video.

The content we are using here at AP ltd. is coming from a variety of places. The Les Turner ALS Foundation supplied us with two videos that they used at two of their fund-raising dinners. For Tuson, we used portions of the CD sales presentation we developed for them. Jelmar's commercials for CLR and Tarn-x will demonstrate the uses of the product and entertain site visitors with their humor. We are even using video we shot as a creative element on a site we are developing for Ravine Way Surgery Center. The video helps create the image we are trying to portray for the Center without slowing down the performance of the site.

Another recent advancement in technology has also helped the surge in video on the Internet. Flash, over the last couple of years, now works very effectively with video. In CD or DVD presentations, video can be used effectively as part of a presentation or as the entire presentation. Flash works just as effectively online with video. This allows marketers to bring their CD/DVD presentations online with a minimum of effort and create a truly integrated campaign.
